I have been teaching with USD 495 for 23 years and am excited to start my 24th year! For 19 years, I taught at Westside which served the Larned State Hospital Adolescent Treatment Center and Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility. After the Adolescent Treatment Center closed seven years ago, I taught one year at LMS before returning to Westside at LJCF. This year at Larned Middle School, I will be teaching 7th Language Arts, Intro to Fine Arts, Advanced Computers, and Impact Reading.
I was born and raised in Marshalltown, Iowa. I lived there until moving to Larned in 1995 to teach. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in English Education after switching majors from Environmental Design at Kansas State. I earned my Master's from Friends University in 2006.
I live here with my husband, Roger, Seamus, our Irish Terrier, and two cats, Chloe and Zoe. We have two grown children. Our son lives in Hutchinson with our two grandsons, ages seven and five. Our daughter finished her degree in Graphic Design from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, IPFW. She lives and works in Indiana.
